It appears that Nollywood actor and candidate, Desmond Elliot, is not counting his recent victory at the All Progressives Congress primary election in Lagos as an achievement yet. Although he beat the current representative of the Surulere Constituency 1, Kabiru Lawal, to clinch the party’s ticket for the Lagos State House of Assembly election, the actor said, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, that the time for celebration had not come.
He said, “I will celebrate after we have overcome our political opponents from other parties, not now. For me, this is not the real victory. I don’t think that beating a fellow member of the All Progressives Congress at the primary is an achievement, especially as it is obvious that anyone of us could have won. The real victory is when we overcome our political opponents at the election proper. And by the grace of God, we shall all work together to achieve this aim.”
Describing the win at the APC primary as a divine opportunity to prove himself, he added, “The important thing, for me, is to use this opportunity well to the benefit of humanity.”
